A second DIANA challenge is now open for proposals to advance dual-use technologies that will boost the alliance’s security and defence

As NATO’s DIANA fund opens its second call, it is bracing for a wave of applications from start-ups, following the high level of interest in its 2023 launch.

“For the first year, one of the first things that stuck out was the amount of interest,” says Tien Pham, who joined DIANA as chief scientist in January. “The response has been great, but the challenge has been, how do we handle the volume?

DIANA runs a network of 23 accelerators and 182 test centres that enable grant winners to find pathways to market and to de-risk, demonstrate and validate their technologies.
