Four countries have each secured more Horizon funding for innovation than the 15 Widening countries combined

Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands have each secured more EU funding for Horizon Europe innovation projects since 2021 than the 15 Widening countries combined. These countries, mostly concentrated in central and eastern Europe, underperform in innovation and typically have a lower participation in EU research and innovation projects.
