The last EU Parliament reached a notable landmark by adopting the Artificial Intelligence Act, with the aim of harmonising rules on AI systems across 27 member states.
The goal is to protect fundamental rights and EU values from the risks of the technology, while also boosting innovation.
"We finally have the world's first binding law on artificial intelligence to reduce risks, create opportunities, combat discrimination, and bring transparency," said Brando Benifei, internal market committee co-rapporteur on the AI Act when it was adopted.
