EU auditors warn of delays in spending the EU’s pandemic recovery fund, including the €56B earmarked for research and innovation
Halfway into the EU’s €724 billion Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), member states had drawn down less than a third of the money, according to a new report from the European Court of Auditors (ECA).
“Timely absorption of the RRF is essential: it helps to avoid bottlenecks in carrying out the measures towards the end of the Facility’s lifespan, and reduces the risk of inefficient and erroneous spending,” said Ivana Maletić, ECA member in charge of the audit.
