Where you set up shop depends on the having all the services your business needs, including water.

It isn't often that you read a press release with a thought grabbing first sentence. But Siemens has done it with the statement that "The cost and availability of water will come to affect European economies much as the dependency on oil and gas imports does today."

Naturally enough, the release, is about the company's activities. In particular, the Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) Group which warns that Europe has a bit too much polluted water and that local authorities will have to invest more in water treatment, and that there's a lot of contaminated water to deal with.

The quote from Roger Radke, of Siemens, that “Water will become a growing cost factor that will influence the competitiveness of trade and industry and burden households even more than it does today”, may be a bit over the top, but it seems safe to assume that water will be an increasingly important issue for businesses. It is also an opportunity for innovation.
