Research collaboration

Advalytix AG of Munich is to coordinate of the €2.5 million EU Project Quantitative Analysis of Genes in Single Cells, which part of the 6th EU framework programme for research.

The partners are developing and testing methods for analysing genetic material in single cells. Central to the project is the analysis of the numbers of copies of nucleic acid (DNA) at the level of a single cell.

In addition to Advalytix the project includes Genewave of France, Molecular Machines & Industries of Switzerland, the University of Ulm and the Estonia Biocentre.

The partners intend to develop a platform technology for the genetic analysis of various single cell types,. The analysis should show deviations in the number of copies of chromosomes connected with many hereditary diseases.

After developing methods for identifying abnormalities, the partners will prove the reliability of the method and to test it in practical use.
