Research and innovation partnerships set up under the EU Framework Programmes may be able to tap into funds from the planned European Competitiveness Fund, according to a draft proposal for the next iteration of Horizon Europe, leaked last week.
While the plans foresee the partnerships remaining in Horizon Europe, they would also be linked to the future Competitiveness Fund via its steering mechanism and competitiveness coordination tool. An official version of the plan is due to be published on July 16.
Industry associations are backing the idea of linking the two instruments, but more details are needed in terms of what this would look like in practice.
