Brazil has a longstanding history of R&D collaboration with the EU, dating back to a scientific and technological cooperation agreement that was signed in 2004. Building on this foundation, in October 2016, the European Commission and the Brazilian National Council of State Funding Agencies (CONFAP) signed an agreement to facilitate research opportunities in Europe for Brazilian researchers.
