A bigger EU research budget from 2027 would allow the ERC to restore the purchasing power of its grants
The European Research Council (ERC) may increase the size of its grants from 2027, if it gets more money in Framework Programme 10 (FP10).
The amount of the grants has remained the same for years, and with inflation raising the costs of scientific work, they are losing their fire power.
Last week José Labastida, head of unit for support to the Scientific Council of the ERC, confirmed the council has discussed the question and decided to wait for the confirmation of the budget of Horizon Europe’s successor to revise the size of the grants.
