Start-ups in Hamburg to get backing from new €12M Innovationsstarter Fonds

The new fund will cooperate with High-Tech Gründerfonds in supporting new companies in and around Hamburg

High-tech companies being founded in Hamburg can now look to High-Tech Gründerfonds and the new Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg for funding, with the two funds agreeing to provide joint seed financing to start-ups from the region.

The newly formed Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg invests in companies in Hamburg up to the age of six years. The €12 million fund comes half from the City of Hamburg and half from the European Regional Development Fund.

Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg and High-Tech Gründerfonds say they will work together to strengthen the high-tech start-up scene in Hamburg, exploiting synergies in the investment process. In first round financings High-Tech Gründerfonds and Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg will jointly invest up to € 600,000.

In further financing rounds investment capital of an additional € 800,000 can be provided by Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg, with up to a further € 1.6 million from High-Tech Gründerfonds.
