Warwick: Volvo Car Corporation owner is exploring major partnership

WMG at the University of Warwick have revealed that Mr Li Shufu, Chairman of China’s and Chairman of Volvo Car Corporation made a personal visit to the University campus and agreed with Lord Bhattacharyya to begin exploratory talks aimed at creating an R&D and education partnership between Geely Businesses and WMG.

He and his team spent a day on the campus on Monday 10th of May to discuss WMG’s expertise and long track record of delivering collaborative R&D and postgraduate education with the automotive industry worldwide, and its strong partnerships with both major automotive companies and SMEs in the automotive supply chain

Chairman Li said:

“I am impressed with WMG and its track record of working closely with industry over many years. I am very keen to explore working in partnership with WMG to leverage WMG’s considerable skills base and expertise in automotive R&D.”

WMG Director Professor Lord Bhattacharyya said:

“I was delighted to host a visit from Chairman Li and his colleagues, and we look forward to developing our collaborative relationship over the next few months. The benefits to the region and the UK more broadly of working collaboratively with global companies such as Geely Businesses cannot be overstated.”
