Sometimes a technology idea so wacky comes along that you have to laugh. Forget the idea that solar power will save the planet from global warming. A Dutch company, Soldius, has another handicap in its sights.

They've come up with the technology for a solar powered golf bag. "Your Apple iPod, mobile phone and or other mobile device can be placed in a specially designed pouch and can then be connected to the charger which is installed behind a special zip in the pouch."

You have to admire their self-assured PR stance. "This highly creative and dynamic team share a belief that Consumer Solar Chargers will be the dominant interface for mobile devices and that pioneering ‘Bleeding Edge’ Technology and combining it with sleek modern design, all working in an environmentally friendly way, is critical to delivering an improved and enhanced mobile experience."

They may have a point. After all, hybrid cars took off when they became the fashion accessory for Hollywood stars.
