Taxback for R&D in the UK

03 Nov 2006 | News
Do you qualify for R&D Tax Credits? The Treasury offers advice for companies that spend on R&D in the UK.

Most of us like to recover as much tax as possible, which is why each year some 5,500 companies in the UK submit claims for R&D Tax Credits. "About £1.8bn has been claimed since 2000, over half of this by SMEs," it says on the web site where they describe the scheme and offer case studies of businesses that have recovered tax credits.

The Treasury would have you believe that "using the scheme is straightforward and claiming is worth the effort". Don't take their word for it. (Who would?) Read what they say in companies like Oxonica, Cambridge Antibody Technology and Pelikon, to just just a few from a dozen or so case studies.

The press release with the announcement also tells us that HM Revenue & Customs "is opening a network of seven new specialist R&D tax credit units across the country to make it easier for innovative SMEs to take advantage of R&D tax credits".
