On 15 and 16 May, at the 9th meeting of the COST Scientific Committee in Brussels, Prof Jari Hämäläinen has been unanimously re-elected as Scientific Committee Chair, for a period of 2 years. During the same meeting, Dr Jenny Renaut (picture on the right) has been elected as Scientific Committee Vice-Chair for the same period.
Prof Hämäläinen welcomed the news: I feel honoured by the trust the Scientific Committee has shown in re-electing me as its Chair. I consider leadership as a service for the Scientific Committee, which works through the time and effort invested by all the members, who each bring a piece of unique wisdom and experience to the Scientific Committee. My aim for the coming two years is to keep the Scientific Committee working to the satisfaction of all its stakeholders, and to add value to the work of COST and the research community. I am looking forward to collaborating with Vice-Chair Dr Renaut and the Scientific Committee in order to realise these goals.
Prof Dr Sierd Cloetingh, President of the COST Association, commented on the decision: I would like to congratulate Prof Hämäläinen with his re-election as Scientific Committee Chair, as well as to congratulate Dr Renaut with her election as Vice-Chair. Under the leadership of Prof Hämäläinen, the Scientific Committee has played an indispensable role in ensuring excellence for our COST Actions, and has contributed to strengthening the quality of our processes. I have full confidence that in the next years, the Scientific Committee will keep playing this key role in the COST framework.
