The UK is to invest in a nationwide network of cancer imaging research centres that will apply the latest imaging technologies to basic and clinical research.

The charity Cancer Research UK confirmed its position as the largest single investor in R&D in the field, announcing it spent a record £333 million on research in its last financial year.

Three European cancer centres are joining forces to develop and implement innovative treatments and reduce treatment related side effects.
