InterRNA invited to join RNA silencing consortium

10 Nov 2008 | News

InteRNA Technologies BV said it has been invited to join the SIROCCO research consortium of 25 laboratories and companies from 10 countries that are studying how RNA silencing can be applied to treat a range of serious diseases, including cancer.

SIROCCO - Silencing RNAs: organisers and coordinators of complexity in eukaryotic organisms – is a Euro 11.8 million four year programme funded under Framework Programme 6.  InteRNA will join for the remaining 2.5 years of the project.

InteRNA’s contribution will focus on discovery, data mining and development of diagnostic miRNA and other small RNA profiles through next-generation sequencing. The work will draw on the company’s proprietary small RNA bioinformatics pipeline, miR-Intess.

“We are very excited that we now can participate in this unique small RNA consortium as it will further support the progression of our discovery and development programmes”, said Roel Schaapveld, Chief Operating Officer of InteRNA.
