The one stop shops will be based around new or existing supercomputers, and will be open to industry and researchers from 2025
The European Commission has launched two calls for artificial intelligence factories to provide start-ups and researchers with easier access to supercomputers that are designed for the large-scale training and development of general-purpose AI models, and for the development, validation and running of emerging AI applications.
Of the €2 billion total, half will come from Digital Europe and Horizon Europe, and the balance from participating member states, to pay for new EU supercomputers, upgrade existing machines and set up the AI factories.
