Long-planned initiative will swell the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and complement other EU water research programmes
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) opened a call last week seeking consortia interested in setting up a pan-European innovation community for the water, marine and maritime sectors.
This will be the EIT’s tenth knowledge and innovation community (KIC), joining earlier initiatives covering health, climate, digital technologies and advanced manufacturing, among others.
The aim is to create a network connecting innovators across Europe addressing water-related challenges such as water scarcity, droughts, floods and freshwater degradation. The KIC will also nurture a circular and sustainable blue economy.
