Unusually, Cluster 4 is dominated by the private sector, which receives 43% of funding and represents 68% of participants
In keeping with its title - and at odds with the norm – Cluster 4: Digital, Industry and Space – is one area of Horizon Europe where the private sector is taking the lead role. Of the 6,490 unique participants in the cluster, 4,443, or 68%, are classified as private for-profit companies, and they have received around €2.6 billion of the total €6.2 billion distributed since 2021.
In comparison, Horizon Europe data across all areas shows the usual participation rate for companies is 28%.
