Taking Horizon Europe clean tech project results and scaling them up with funding from the €40 billion EU Innovation Fund sounds like a no-brainer. But few Horizon grantees have managed to take the leap. Here’s why it’s not been easy going.
While European researchers produce many great ideas, Europe’s Innovation Fund’s complex rules and an investor-hungry market trip up many. Submitting a proposal requires “high efforts from the industry, and I would even say without a consultancy firm, it's difficult to submit a proposal,” says Annemarie Reiche, country manager at PNO Consultants Germany.
