Lithuanian R&D company Sensmetry, a global leader in the safety and reliability of automated systems, is keen to participate in Horizon Europe. But the closed-club, paperwork-heavy culture has been a major barrier, the company’s CEO Juozas Vaicenavičius says.
With Horizon Europe success rates as low as 10%, the company is reluctant to invest time and money in networking and the application process required to take part. For a small start-up, writing a project proposal, a process that takes months, is a huge investment.
Sensmetry is not alone, and it‘s Europe’s loss. Many companies around Europe are struggling to enter the oversubscribed club, especially those in newer EU member states where there is much less local expertise in drafting EU project proposals. <…
