With its focus on energy, climate, and mobility, Pillar II’s Cluster 5 is dominated by Germany
Germany dominates all others in the climate, energy and mobility pillar of Horizon Europe, with €1.15 billion in funding overall. It also takes the first two places in the individual ranking, where the German Aerospace Centre and Fraunhofer have been awarded 3% of all the money going into Cluster 5.
Cluster 5 is the largest chunk of Horizon Europe’s Pillar II, with the €7.2 billion awarded surpassing all other areas. This is attributed to its focus on projects that contribute to the policy priority of the European Green Deal.
Public-private partnerships are key pieces of Cluster 5, representing around 18% of total funding. This partly explains the strong performance of private companies, similar to that seen in Cluster 4, with 4,347 industry partners in total, out of 7,329 participating organisations overall.
