Chalmers winner at the Green Gown Awards

Chalmers and the Challenge Lab won the European prize at the GUPES Green Gown awards 2016.The GUPES Green Gown Awards are the most prestigious recognition of environmental and sustainability best practice within the further and higher education sectors.

halmers University of Technology, won the European prize for their student engagement project Challenge Lab where students learn to explore, define and act upon global challenges that will transform the way we live together on this planet.

Challenge Lab is a challenge driven innovation and co-creation arena at Chalmers, located at the Johanneberg Science Park. At the Challenge Lab, master’s students take a leading role in bringing projects, companies and public sector initiatives together with academia to find meaningful, transformative solutions for a sustainable future.​

The GUPES Green Gown Awards are the most prestigious recognition of environmental and sustainability best practice within the further and higher education sectors. ​The Awards provide the sector with benchmarks for excellence and are respected by Government, funding councils, senior management, academics and students. The GUPES Green Gown Awards are supported by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Universities Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES) and is open to GUPES members.​ ​

The education sector is a critical player in ensuring that future generations are equipped with the skills and experience required to provide a sustainable future. The GUPES Green Gown Awards celebrate those that are taking the bold steps necessary to develop resilience and adaptability and to showcase the education sector’s contribution to societ, says Iain Patton, CEO, EAUC.
