CESAER appoints Secretary-General

The Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (CESAER) has appointed David Bohmert as its Secretary-General as of 1st March 2016. Dutch and Swiss national with a record of accomplishment in education, research and innovation in the Netherlands, Switzerland and at European level, Bohmert will part-time reinforce our Leuven-based CESAER Office servicing our Members.

He will combine the position of our Secretary-General with continuing to work at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) as Swiss Delegate to the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) mandated by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).CESAER is a non-profit international association of 50 leading European universities of science and technology and engineering schools/faculties at comprehensive universities and university colleges from 24 countries.

We stand for scientific excellence in engineering education and research, and the promotion of innovation through close cooperation with industry in order to ensure the application of cutting-edge knowledge in industry, public services and society. CESAER maintains and promotes the highest quality standards.  

CESAER’s mission is:
  • to serve as a close network and platform for mutual learning of universities of technology;
  • to contribute proactively to European developments by conducting a permanent dialogue with and influencing European institutions and stakeholders;
  • to inspire reflections and policy decisions of stakeholders at European and national level;
  • to foster public understanding of the role of engineering in societal and economic development considering the principles of sustainable development.
