Reducing power consumption of semiconductors is a top priority for the French research centre as it expands its partnerships with industry

Reducing power consumption is the most important challenge facing the semiconductor industry today, according to Michaël Tchagaspanian, executive vice president for technology strategic partnership at French research institute CEA-Leti.
It is also a key consideration for the European Commission as it prepares a second iteration of the EU Chips Act and extends support for the development and application of artificial intelligence systems across multiple industries.
“I think this will be the main driving direction of the Chips Act 2.0,” Tchagaspanian said. “We need to improve at every level of the technology: on the tools side, on the device side, on the materials side and on the manufacturing side.”
