ESADECREAPOLIS to co-develop an Erasmus project to foster innovation, creativity and talent in ICT SMEs

06 Mar 2013 | Network Updates

The European Commission has selected ESADECREAPOLIS and six other institutions to develop a learning programme to accelerate innovation, creativity and talent. Experts from Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Poland and Lithuania will develop the programme throughout 2013 and launch it in 2014.

The European Union needs to become more competitive in global markets. To address this challenge, the European Commission has launched ICT4SME, an initiative coordinated by ESADECREAPOLIS to help small and medium-sized ICT firms to develop their competitive advantages via innovation, creativity and talent.

Ninety-nine percent of all EU companies are SMEs, and the innovation-driven ICT sector accounts for 5% of the EU’s GDP. The European Commission recognises the critical importance of the ICT SMEs as a regional growth engine and is keen to promote innovation, creativity and talent, while acknowledging that that not all such companies are equipped for rapid local or global growth. ICT4SME seeks to enhance the capabilities of ICT SMEs.

ICT4SME is a consortium of seven well-reputed European organisations: ESADE Business School, ESADECREAPOLIS, the International Business School at Vilnius University, the Gdansk University of Technology, Camrass & Company, Octrium and the Department of Economic Development of the Pomorskie Region (Poland).

The ultimate goal of the project is to develop a learning programme to promote the innovation, creativity, talent and new skills in ICT SMEs, while also seeking out additional partners to impart its learning programme on a commercial basis.

In an ICT sector now being transformed by e-commerce, cloud computing, mobile technology and consumerisation, SMEs need to become more flexible and responsive through innovation, creativity, talent and education. All seven ICT4SME partners, including ESADECREAPOLIS, are ready to show the best of their countries’ efforts.
