Chalmers University of Technology, in collaboration with University of Gothenburg, is offering a free-of-charge idea evaluation service to support utilization of early stage innovative ideas from research. The Idea Evaluation results in a rich report – featuring e.g. sustainability assessments and market potential - for academic and industry innovators. The service is created in a unique interplay with the university course “IEFS – Idea Evaluation & Feasibility Studies”. This offer is now expanded to readers of Science|Business.
The idea evaluation practices build from over a decade of accumulated experience from education-integrated research commercialization, utilization and technology transfer from the Gothenburg Schools of Entrepreneurship. This have now resulted in Swedish Government-acknowledged best practices, utilized in the master-level course; “IEFS – Idea Evaluation & Feasibility Studies”. In this course, supervised students from Chalmers and University of Gothenburg analyze innovations and ideas sprung out of academic and industrial R&D serving as a first step in commercialization of the idea. All under secrecy and free of charge.
Selected innovative ideas from research are assessed by teams applying tools and frameworks in the areas of IP strategy, sustainability, market potential and business model design that are being taught at the Schools of Entrepreneurship. The researher will - by submitting the innovation for analysis - allow for 2-3 calls/meetings with the analysis team for an optimal result.
After analysis and presentation, the researher receives a full report with recommendations for further utilization of the idea. All information is handled with secrecy through non-disclosure agreements and the reports and presentations stemming from the process are not public.
Ideas, early innovations, research patents and platform technologies, now have the opportunity of getting this thorough Idea Evaluation - free of charge. Out of all applications enrolling, twentyfive will be chosen. A form will be sent upon request including idea description, previous IP claims and environmental sustainability parameters.
