Smart Grids and Cleanpower 2011 Conference to take place in Cambridge

The Smart Grids and Cleanpower 2011 Conference, organised by CIR Strategy, is to take place at a Cambridge University conference facility later this month. Professor Jim Skea, Research Director at UKERC and Jeremy Nicholson, Senior Advisor to the EEF Energy Intensive Users Group have been confirmed as chair people. The two day conference will kick off on 29th May.

Keynote speakers will include: DECC Chair ORED, Ofgem CEO, EDF, Energy UK. Experts from Siemens Metering, Siemens Wind, ARM, Renesas, CamSemi, UK Power Networks, E.ON, Climate Change Capital, novusmodus, Cambridge University, Oxford University, AlertMe, Schneider Electric, Landis&Gyr will also be participating.

The first day of the event will focus on subjects like consumer-facing marketing, price control, competition, regulation and innovation in structural energy efficient design. It will also address smart energy management through metering delivery, platform through demand side management through interoperability and standards at grid level and on Day.

The role of nuclear and renewables-combined fossil fuel plants, renewable power generation and the energy gap will be discussed on the second day of the event. The conference hopes to answer important questions, like who are the leading players, who trades with whom, what are the market drivers, trends, consumer psychology and opportunities, and what are the commercial frameworks and focus strategies being executed.

Cambridge University will host the event at a purpose-built conference facility in beautiful and relaxed surroundings near the historic centre. Two hundred senior executives are expected to attend over the two days of the event. CIR has run twenty successful conferences since 2002, often in the area of cleantech.
