The UK Technology Strategy Board and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council have jointly allocated up to £400,000 to stimulate innovation with technologies that can address potential environmental, health and safety (EHS) aspects of the development of nanoscale technologies.
This could be either a standalone EHS product, or involve dealing with EHS-related issues of nanotechnology based products and processes.
Money is available to support feasibility studies lasting up to three months. The primary purpose of the funding is to seed business-led collaborations that can go forward for funding in future programmes in EHS-related applications.
Another aim of this call is to understand the priorities in EHS-related issues from a commercial perspective, and to deliver early stage novel technology that will put the UK in a strong competitive position in developing technologies in a global landscape.
The competition opens on 10 January 2011. Applications are invited from single companies, or those in collaboration with other companies and/or with academic institutions.
