The University of Manchester has signed an agreement with IBM to collaborate on research, teaching and recruitment.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Wednesday for the partnership, IBM-Manchester Partners Programme. Under the agreement, Manchester University will select staff to collaborate with IBM on research. The programme will also “identify areas of overlapping strategic importance for course delivery and future outreach activities,” according to a statement.
The collaboration will seek to exploit activities on research, education, and the development of new scientific applications and the recruitment of students to both the university and IBM. The two parties already have previous alliances on subjects including engineering, the life sciences and humanities that go back more than a decade, the statement said.
