The Semiconductor Industry Association in the USA is worried that the country will lose its "leadership in innovation and technology".
No one would ever accused Americans of being bashful. So it is no surprise when the President of the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) proclaims “For more than 50 years, America has been the world leader in innovation and technology."
It is a surprise, though, that the SIA worries about the fate of the country's electronics industry. That's why the association and its members "are increasing their efforts to educate policymakers about the chip industry's integral role in American innovativeness, productivity and prosperity". A new web site, check the suitably gung ho name, will campaign for the sector and present "a series of broadly supported public policy initiatives designed to meet the new global competitive challenge and secure America’s leadership in technology and innovation”.
