The president, Karin Markides, took office last August after having served as deputy director general of VINNOVA, the Swedish government’s technology development fund.
In a statement, the university said new officers will head each of the three development initiatives. They are:
-Stefan Bengtsson, executive vice president with responsibility for the material and bio initiative. He is professor of solid state electronics and head of the Chalmers Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience.
-Johan Holmberg, vice president with responsibility for the systems and environment initiative. He is professor of physical resource theory, vice dean of the Centre for Environment and Sustainability, and holds a UNESCO chair in education for sustainable development.
-Anna Dubois, vice president with responsibility for the industry and communication intiative. She is professor in the Division of Industrial Marketing, and head of the Department of Technology Management and Economics.
Other new appointees include:
-Alf-Erik Almstedt, deputy head of the Department of
Applied Mechanics, is named vice president for postgraduate studies.
-Lisbeth Birgersson, an assistant professor in the Unit for
Space and Process, is named vice president for strategic planning of academic
recruitment.
-Jan Smith, president of the IT
-Holger Rootzen, a professor of mathematical stistics, is given
a special assignment for Chalmers Initiative Seminars.
Among those senior Chalmers managers remaining in office are
Vice President Johan Carlsten, for continuing professional development, contact
with the business world, innovation systems, competence centres and
commissioned education; and Jorgen Sjoberg, senior adviser on strategic
operational issues with overall responsibility for internationalization.
Stepping down on June 30 will be Vice Presidents Karin Andersson and Peter Olsson. Vice President Lennart Josefson will, from July 1, have a special assignment as chairman of the Faculty Appointment Committee for recruitment.
