OncoMethylome Sciences of Liege, Belgium, has been awarded a grant of €1.95 million by the Walloon government as part of the BioWin Marshall Plan programme, to develop early diagnostics for cancer and cancer vaccines.

The four-year research project, a collaboration between OncoMethylome, the University of Liege, and GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, is focused on early detection of women’s cancers and cancer vaccines. Total support for the project is €3.5 million, of which €1.95 million is allocated to OncoMethylome and the remainder to the University of Liege.

OncoMethylome Sciences is a molecular diagnostics company developing gene methylation tests for detecting cancers at the early stages of development. The tests also predict a patient’s response to drug therapy, and the likelihood of a cancer recurring.
