The governing board, which will steer the activities of the EIT, will be composed of independent members who provide a balance of expertise in business, research and education. It will set the strategy of the EIT and decide on the areas in which to invest and to establish the Knowledge and Innovation Communities that will be at the heart of the institute. It will also be responsible for the selection of the communities, and for the monitoring and evaluating their work.
The European Commission expects to appoint the board’s members some time this summer, after the adoption of the EIT regulation, scheduled in March.
