Eindhoven creates Institute for Complex Molecular Systems

02 Apr 2008 | Network Updates

Researchers from a wide range of disciplines at Eindhoven University of Technology are joining forces in the creation of an Institute for Complex Molecular Systems, set up with guaranteed funding of €15 million over the next ten years.

The institute is charged with investigating the mechanisms behind self-organisation of organisms, which is expected to contribute to the development of molecular scale mini-factories for producing the next generation of catalysts, photosynthetic systems, nanocontainers and functional materials.

Professor Bert Meijer will head the institute, which will take in Eindhoven scientists and engineers from the fields of mathematics, chemistry and physics.
