The outcomes of the EU-funded project Boost Biosystems, established to support those in the ScanBalt BioRegion – the life science cluster that covers 11 countries across Scandinavia and the Baltic, will be presented during a three-day conference in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Boost Biosystems assisted over 45 SMEs to form collaborations within the biosystems field or make EU research proposals; a dozen concrete proposals or collaborations have been set up as a result. During the project, new diagnostics was identified as one of the most promising focus areas for the region. Several new initiatives in this field were established.

The results of the project will be presented at a session of the 7th ScanBalt Forum and Biomaterials Days, which is being held in Vilnius, Lithuania on 24–26 September 2008. During the event, ScanBalt will present a business plan to create a support service to continue providing assistance to SMEs, both in setting up international collaborations and in managing EU projects.
