The Brussels-based Eureka Secretariat plays a pivotal role in supporting the network's strategic objectives, managing programme operations, maintaining IT platforms, storing data, and promoting Eureka to a wide range of stakeholders and beneficiaries.

The Eureka Clusters programme is driven by thematic communities of large companies, SMEs, universities, research institutes and end users. Participants access national funding and work alongside major industry players on close-to-market projects that meet their innovation objectives.

To support our objective of further enhancing the crucial role played by the Eureka Clusters in giving businesses a competitive edge through innovation, the Eureka Secretariat, located centrally in Brussels, is looking for a

Eureka Clusters Coordinator

As Eureka Clusters Coordinator, you will be based in the Eureka Secretariat in Brussels. Your main role will be to assist participating Eureka public authorities engage with the Eureka Clusters Programme. You will report to the Operations manager for global and corporate activities and work closely with the Director General at the Eureka Secretariat, representatives from Eureka public authorities and the Cluster offices. 

Duties and responsibilities

The Eureka Clusters Coordinator has three main objectives:

  • To drive programme developments forward, in liaison with Eureka members, Eureka Clusters and the Eureka Secretariat.
  • To support Eureka members to maximise the benefits of the programme for their companies, researchers and innovators.
  • To support Eureka Clusters to link with the Eureka network, its members, and the Eureka Secretariat, and to ensure Eureka Clusters are well positioned within Eureka.

Concretely, the role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Convening and managing the Public Authorities Group, in close coordination with its Chair;
  • Coordinate programme developments using the programme’s governance arrangements and in close collaboration with other programmes based at the Eureka Secretariat;
  • Ensure adequate and high-quality visibility of the programme, and Cluster calls and events, including through public presentations and various media channels;
  • Organise and drive evaluations, assessments, and other analyses related to Eureka Clusters, the Programme, and potential impacts;
  • Report progress to the Eureka Network and develop close working relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Support Eureka Clusters to harmonise processes, and ensure faster time to project start;
  • Work to ensure attractiveness and relevance of Eureka Clusters and the programme for beneficiaries;
  • Provide guidance in setting up new Eureka Clusters and actively cooperate with other industry communities.

Qualifications and skills

  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • An outstanding and proactive programme manager, with the ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • A seasoned networker, able to find her or his way in a complex political environment and mediate between different stakeholders and broker solutions and compromises.
  • A positive, flexible, diplomatic and highly motivated team-player
  • As part of a multinational team: sensitivity to cultural differences.

Education and Experience

  • A level of higher education that corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma (Master’s degree) within a relevant field such as, for example, innovation and technology management, engineering, entrepreneurship or industrial economics.
  • A relevant professional experience of at least 3 years, preferably 5 years, at an equivalent responsibility level.
  • Experience with and knowledge of national administrations, governmental relations, national funding processes and international innovation processes.
  • Experience with funding programmes and call management, including evaluation and impact analysis.
  • Experience from similar industry driven initiatives and public private partnerships.
