Healthcare and medical technology start-up companies have been invited to apply for places on a business development mission to Japan and Korea. The visits will be sponsored by the European Commission and funded through the Gateway Programme, which will pay for 40 companies to visit Japan and 30 to visit Korea.

Similar missions are open for companies developing environment and energy-related technology in areas such as waste water treatment, energy efficiency and noise protection.

The aim of the Gateway programme, which runs from 2008 to 2015, is to provide EU technology companies with the tools to establish themselves in the Korean and Japanese markets.
