Europe and Africa to cooperate on ICT Research

21 Jan 2009 | Network Updates

For the first time in Europe, sub-Saharan African and European policy-makers and research organisations are being brought together to address the development of research collaborations in ICT.

The Euro-Africa Cooperation Forum on ICT Research will take place at the European Commission on 25-26 March 2009. The two day event is co-organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Information Society and Media and the African Union Commission (AUC), with the support of the EuroAfriCa-ICT project, a Framework Programme 7 (FP7) initiative to enhance ICT research cooperation between Europe and sub-Saharan Africa.

The forum will be an opportunity for over 300 delegates to network with key stakeholders in the field, identify potential cooperation partners, and learn more about the EU–AU Partnership on Science, ICT and Space and other EC–AUC Programmes. The forum also aims to provide delegates with detailed information on opportunities to increase African participation in FP7, to learn more about successful EU-African cooperation projects, and to get feedback and hear of the lessons learnt from EU–African public–private partnerships.

Registration is free of charge and a Call for Communications will close on January 31.
