Renewable energy specialist Enfinity Management, of Waregem, Belgium, has secured €50 million from the investment firm Waterland. This will allow Enfinity to accelerate its growth in the 12 countries in Europe, the US and Asia in which it is already present, and to develop its position in new countries.

The US market is rapidly becoming a major focus since the inauguration of President Obama, a key proponent of renewable energy, according to Gino Van Neer, CEO and co-founder of Enfinity.

Enfinity was founded in 2005, and has seen its turnover grow from €200,000 in 2006 to €83 million in 2008 and is aiming to triple turnover for 2009. The company says it will reach this target mainly through the development of solar power projects on the roofs of commercial and domestic buildings. It also expects to complete significant wind energy projects.
