Warwick University has announced that it has raised £4 million from over 3,000 philanthropic donations in the year to the end of July 2009.

This is a 70 per cent increase on the previous year and the highest total since formal fundraising efforts began in 1997. This figure will increase further when government matched funds are received.

The university expressed its gratitude and looked forward to receiving further support for its Vision 2015 campaign. The donors have chosen to support a number of Warwick initiatives including student scholarships and prizes, the Warwick in Africa teaching project, the International Gateway for Gifted Youth (IGGY), new research facilities, and the redevelopment of the Butterworth Hall.
