Financial services company Citi has opened a $24 million centre in Dublin to develop next-generation intelligent payments systems and other products.

Financial services company Citi has opened a $24 million Research, Development, Innovation, and Learning (RDIL) Centre in Dublin, to develop next generation intelligent payments systems and other products.

By the end of 2010, the RDIL Centre, Citi’s only dedicated R&D facility, will employ 100 research specialists, analysts and technologists.

Barry O'Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland, the country’s inward investment body, said, “The RDIL Centre will further contribute to Ireland’s reputation as a leading European location for next generation research, development and innovation.”

And with the Irish people due to vote tomorrow (Friday) in a second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty, O'Leary added, “Approval for the Lisbon Treaty will further enhance Ireland’s position as a leading location in Europe for foreign direct investment from all industry and business sectors.”
