Eugenia Bieto has taken up office as the new director general of ESADE. An expert in corporate entrepreneurship and business start-ups, Bieto takes over from Carlos Losada, who has directed the business school for the last ten years.
During the inauguration ceremony, Bieto said one of her priorities is to make ESADE, “A benchmark academic institution, on not only on an international, but also on a global scale.” She pinpointed Brazil, India and the US as the three target countries for the school’s future expansion. In addition, Bieto confirmed a broader range of financial aid for potential ESADE students, with up to seven different types of scholarship available.
The newly-appointed director general also reiterated ESADE’s commitment to business ethics. “We must strive to remain loyal to ESADE’s identity and values by training excellent leaders and professionals, who are able to generate economic and social value,” she said, adding Carlos Losada’s words, “We don’t want to be the best school in the world, but the best school for the world.”
Bieto becomes the only woman in Europe and the fourth worldwide (Harvard, MIT, Yale and ESADE), to direct one of the world’s top 25 business schools.
