Collaboration

UK proteomics specialist Proteome Sciences plc is to collaborate with the laboratory services company Thermo Fisher to develop tools for biomarker research. The collaboration brings together the proteomics reagent team at the Thermo Fisher Scientific Biomarker Research Initiatives in Mass Spectrometry (BRIMS) Centre, with Proteome to advance techniques for biomarker discovery and validation.

Proteome Sciences already uses Thermo Fisher’s mass spectrometer systems at its research laboratories in Frankfurt, in its internal biomarker discovery and validation research. As part of the collaboration, Proteome Sciences will now integrate Thermo Scientific’s mass spectrometer with its biomarker services and reagents.

“[This] will allow us to extend the scope of proteomic services we offer to customers,” said Ian Pike, Chief operating officer of Proteome. As a result of the collaboration biomarker discovery, qualification and assay validation will be integrated into a single process.
