According to a new report published by the Royal Society, the output of UK’s international science collaboration with the EU is rising faster than with the US. The share of UK papers co-authored between 2014 and 2018 with Horizon 2020 countries has increased by 9.9 per cent, compared to the 2004-2008 period. Meanwhile, the share of UK papers co-authored with the US increased by 4.8 per cent.
“The growing value of international collaboration to UK research and innovation generally and the particular value of working closely with European partners,” the report says.
The Royal Society urges the UK government to maintain and grow international science collaborations with Europe and attract R&D intensive businesses to locate in the UK.
