Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is one of the world’s leading universities in its domain. Drawing on our excellence in fundamental and applied research, we educate the engineers of the future to design solutions for the highly complex problems facing the planet. We are number one in collaboration with industry, being located in one of the most powerful technology hubs in the world: Brainport Eindhoven.
TU/e is a young university, established in 1956 by industry, local government and academia. Today, the founders’ spirit of collaboration is still at the heart of the university community. Our campus sits in the centre of the powerful Brainport Eindhoven. Globally, we stand out when it comes to partnering with advanced industries. Together with other institutions, we form a thriving ecosystem with one common aim – to improve quality of life through sustainable innovations.
Three challenges are fundamental to our vision and strategic planning for 2030: a sustainable world, the technology revolution, and the impact of technology on society. Through challenge-based learning, we educate engineers that fit the demands of the Brainport region: problem solvers, team players and communicators. We increase the impact of our research through multidisciplinary institutes that combine excellent science with the needs of our region. Our Eindhoven Artificial Intelligent Systems Institute (EAISI) creates new and exciting AI applications with a direct impact on the real world. Our Institute for Complex Molecular Systems (ICMS) is renowned for its research on the most fundamental level, enabling us to shape the future of materials, energy, mobility, health, and life itself. And the Eindhoven Institute for Renewable Energy Systems (EIRES) is our answer to the broad, multidisciplinary questions posed by the sustainable energy transition.
To further our collaboration with industry and society, extending our support for the development of new businesses, we created the Gate, a take-off for tech start-ups in this region. To increase both our scientific and societal impact, we connect with partners and focus on select academic, industrial and triple-helix partnerships. We strongly believe in gender equality: our Irene Curie Fellowship program is widely known and results in the recruitment of many excellent scientists. We are a university where people matter, giving our scientists room to grow, develop and seek unusual collaborations.
We are Eindhoven University of Technology, an international top university, fully embedded in its region.
