The Guild: Priorities for Horizon Europe's digital, industry and space cluster

The Guild has published a position paper identifying priority areas for Horizon Europe’s Digital, Industry and Space cluster. These priorities were formulated by The Guild’s academic community.

Digitalisation, space science and new technologies are radically transforming our societies. To make sure that these transformations contribute to sustainability and improve citizens’ lives, the Digital, Industry and Space cluster should couple research into new technologies and industrial processes with value-driven research, taking into account citizens’ needs and concerns. The cluster should also promote cross-sectorial and interdisciplinary collaborations and build on both fundamental and applied science.

As a contribution to Horizon Europe’s Strategic Planning process, The Guild outlines five priority areas for this cluster: (1) Artificial Intelligence; (2) Advanced computing; (3) Manufacturing; (4) Advanced materials; and (5) Space.

For each of these areas, the paper identifies the specific challenges our societies face today, the expected impact of collaborative R&I, and the R&I orientations that will contribute to their achievement. These priorities will maximise EU added value and contribute to a better and more sustainable future for all.
