The European University Association is pleased to announce that it is strengthening its Secretariat with the appointment of a new senior team member.

As of 1 July 2024, Simon Marti serves the Association as Head of the EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE). Simon has headed SwissCore, the Swiss Contact Office for European Research, Innovation and Education in Brussels, for the past five years.

EUA is greatly indebted to Alexander Hasgall, Simon’s predecessor, for his notable contribution to the development of EUA-CDE during his time as its Head.

“This is an exciting time for EUA-CDE and I am looking forward to working with Simon as we nurture and grow the extremely engaged and active CDE community. We just gathered in Barcelona for the 2024 EUA-CDE Annual Meeting, and I am very happy that Simon could already join us there and meet so many of our members.” said Stephane Berghmans, Director for Research and Innovation at EUA.

“I am thrilled to start my new role and I am impressed by the spirit of the EUA-CDE community – I very much look forward to working with them.” added Simon Marti.
