The decision was made by the Supervisory Board following consultations with direct colleagues, the Central Representative Advisory Council and deans. The need for decisive leadership at AUAS will remain critical in the coming period. Since assuming her role in March 2021, Jopie Nooren has impressed the Supervisory Board with her deep commitment, strategic vision and strong leadership.

‘Jopie Nooren has demonstrated that she is a leader with a warm heart and a cool head. She provides clear direction to the organisation and the important issues at hand. She also acts swiftly and effectively during crises while maintaining close connections with all stakeholders. Internally and externally, Jopie Nooren is highly visible. She is approachable to the AUAS community and plays a significant role within the Netherlands Association of Universities of Applied Sciences and various national working groups. As the Supervisory Board, we are pleased that Jopie Nooren is committed to continuing her work for AUAS with all her energy and experience. In these turbulent times, moral leadership, decisiveness and continuity are crucial, and Jopie’s reappointment ensures this’, said Gala Veldhoen, chair of the Supervisory Board.

In her second term, Jopie Nooren will continue along the path she has pursued in recent years. Addressing the challenges of reduced funding will remain a priority, requiring collaborative decisions within the organisation to safeguard the continuity and quality of education and research.

‘I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the Supervisory Board’, said Jopie Nooren. ‘In the coming years, we will continue working together as the AUAS, striving to create a flexible, accessible, diverse and inclusive institution. Through education and practice-based research, we aim to contribute to the societal challenges of the Amsterdam metropolitan region. It is important to me that all students, colleagues and partners feel welcome, at home, seen and heard at AUAS. I look forward to continuing this work with great enthusiasm.’
