Politecnico di Milano won the Italian final of the 2019 CFA Research Challenge, the global financial competition run by the CFA Institute and promoted in our country by FactSet, Fidelity International and PwC.

The students Paolo Farfalletti Casati, Valentina Zanni, Giovanni Righi, Giacomo Ferrari and Andrea Monteduro, under the guidance of Professors Marco Giorgino and Laura Grassi from the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering and of the CFA mentor Daniele Zujani, submitted their study to a jury of six experts from the financial sector: Domenico Ghilotti (Equita Sim), Marco Greco (Value Track), Nicola Madureri (PwC Italy), Angelo Meda, CFA (CIPM Banor Sim), Marco Mossetti, CFA (Eurizon Capital SGR), and Pinuccia Parini (AIFO Advisory).

The awards ceremony was held at the Milan office of PwC and saw the involvement of 8 universities, 37 students and over 30 professionals.

Politecnico di Milano will proceed directly to the regional EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) final, to be held on 10 and 11 April 2019 in Zurich. As proof of the high quality of our students and the professionals attending to them, already in 2016, 2014 and 2011 Italy won the regional EMEA final.

The world final, instead, will be held on 25 April 2019 in New York, where a contest will pit against each other the EMEA, America and Pacific Asia winners.

These are the first spontaneous statements by the Politecnico di Milano team after the proclamation.

"In these months, the best advice we have received was, ‘Enjoy yourselves,’ by our professor Laura Grassi. In truth, always wearing a smile, we tackled this challenge and we attained the victory that made us extremely proud and happy"

"This is a recognition that fills us with pride. The competition organised by CFA Institute is an excellent way to draw students close to a challenging work experience, within a captivating context where determination, passion and entertainment have been the keys to a success more than deserved by our boys,» said Marco Giorgino, full professor of finance and risk management from Politecnico di Milano.

"Once again, Politecnico di Milano wins, at national level, the FA Research Challenge, thereby confirming what a high level of preparation can be reached on corporate finance and market finance issues by studying Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering at Politecnico di Milano."
